Jonathan B. Jones is the CEO of Jones Capital (Jones). Before becoming CEO, Jonathan earned a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Mississippi. Immediately upon graduation, Jonathan began working as an assistant controller for the family business. Within four years of employment, Jonathan purchased a controlling interest in the company and was promoted to CEO.
During Jonathan's leadership, Jones’ portfolio of energy infrastructure construction companies grew to become the nation’s largest power line and pipeline subcontracting consortium. In 2018, Jones sold a majority stake in its largest energy-related portfolio company, Yak Access. The primary focus of Jones Capital is redeploying capital and creating jobs throughout MS and across the country. Today, the Jones family of companies employ nearly 1,000 people and are market share leaders in many categories: Portabull Fuel is the nation’s largest fuel supplier to pipeline contractors; Jones Lumber Company is Mississippi’s largest hardwood sawmill operator; Jones Logistics is the second largest Mississippi-based logistics provider; FV Recycling is the largest privately held paper recycler in the Gulf Coast region; Jones Pipeline Services is the nation’s largest non-union pipeline pipe logistics company. In 2016, Jonathan was recognized for his entrepreneurial achievements by receiving the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2016 award for Diversified and Industrial Products in the Gulf Coast Area.
Jonathan is in constant pursuit of personal and professional growth through mentorship, affiliation with industry associations, and continual learning. Jonathan is a member and former committee chairman for the Young Presidents Organization, which is the world’s premier peer network of chief executives and professional leaders who inspire business, personal, family, and community impact.
Jonathan also serves on the board for the Area Development Partnership for Greater Hattiesburg, MS as well as Extra Table to help in the fight against hunger.
